The North American Menopause Society (NAMS) and the International Menopause Society are two organizations setting the definitions. The NIH and NAMS furthered the definitions by staging the time frame of the reproductive changes. What does STRAW stand for?

Now, the next step requires that you take a good look at your list, which sometimes grows a bit too long, and ask this question. Is everything on this list necessary? Be truthful. Are their opportunities for delegating or reassigning or even eliminating the item? Don’t think too long – first hunches are always correct.

“New Program lets some WI residents ship drugs for disposal”
Collecting and disposing of pharmaceuticals is a program that should be found across the U.S, but can only be found in a few places, especially with the state and federal drug disposal laws that regulate this healthcare dilemma. Take-back programs, recycle/incinerate programs, or even disposing drugs in landfills or waterways offer limited options for consumers. Numerous governmental agencies including the Dept of Natural Resources (DNR), Drug Enforcement Agency, and Dept. Agriculture, Trade & Consumer Protection are taking serious, the thought of water preservation and piloting programs for generating power. What are you doing with your pills/potions and powders? Do you know what your facility or organization’s policy is on pharmacy waste?

“New Smoking Cessation Guideline Confirms that NOW is the Time to Quit Smoking”
The new clinical practice guidelines recently released by the U.S. Public health Services identifies the new counseling and medication treatments that are now more effective in helping people to quit smoking. Success has been shown when counseling is partnered with medications, that the rate of quitting increases. Step up your involvement with the recommendations outlined here. This will help to dramatically reduce the estimated 5 million smokers who will die over the next decade if we don’t help treat them now.
