Asthma: Local Adverse Effects
Asthma medications, particularly the inhaled corticosteroids, can potentially cause problems that impact adherence to your patient’s asthma management and plan of care. Oral candidiasis, dysphonia and reflex cough are some of the adverse effects of both short term and long term asthma medications. What device can be used to minimize these reactions and discomforts?

Multiple Sclerosis: Precautions with Mitoxantrone
When Novantrone is prescribed for your patient with multiple sclerosis, attention to potentially negative interactions warrants regular assessments. Avoidance of liver vaccines, people with active infections and certain medications must be adhered to in order to prevent an infection in your patient. Reporting signs of infection to the doctor is paramount to keeping your patient well. What color is this particular infusion and is good for your patient to know?

Excellence in Case Mgmnt
A Time and Place – Yours and Mine
My list of activities and requests continues to grow but at the same time I have accomplished key items that truly needed to be done. I made sure they were well done and served as “classic” examples of my work. But…perhaps trying to hard to be “perfect” was taking up too much valuable time and energy that could have been spent on accomplishing other items on my list. Letting up on perfectionism is fine. You are getting things done. And that’s what counts.

National Men’s Health Week
In the Headlines . . .
“Real Men wear gowns!”
That is….patient…examination gown. That’s because real men know the facts. So says AHRQ in their direct appeal to men in our lives and our communities. Active participation with their physicians in caring for their bodies requires knowing the facts. Heart disease, high blood pressure and cigarette smoking have adverse effects on their health and well being. Watch the “Real Men” video at this website and encourage each other to take the next step.
