Multiple Sclerosis: Decision Making
Future disease-related changes require forward thinking and planning on how to address this chronic and unpredictable disease. Responsibilities of parenting and wage-earning roles require addressing both the negative and positive possible outcomes. Factors to consider include personal priorities, strength and flexibility of their relationship, available support, financial resources and child-rearing goals and ideal.

Rheumatoid Arthritis: Corticosteroids
It has been clearly established that low doses of corticosteroids help to retard the progressive pathologic changes in RA. Controversy continues on the prescribing patterns of using corticosteroids for chronic use in patients with RA. A variety of corticosteroids is available, and also presents side effects of various levels. At a minimum, 1-1.5 g of calcium and 800 IU of Vitamin D should be taken daily when patients are using corticosteroids for chronic management of RA.

“CMS limits insurers’ marketing activities for Medicare”
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services released final regulations to protect Medicare beneficiaries from high pressure tactics in purchasing or changing their insurance or prescription-drug coverage decisions when the new enrollment starts for 2009. Unsolicited calls or providing meals for potential customers are some of the prohibited activities. The Press release provides further information on the MIPPA legislation and applicable regulations.
