Multiple Sclerosis: Quality of Life Issues
Dysfunction or sexual issues are expressed by about 82% of males and 52% of females with MS. These dysfunctions are divided into three types – Primary (Dyspareunia, Numbness in genital area), Secondary (physical changes, pharmacological treatments), or Tertiary Sexual dysfunction (psychosocial/cultural issues). Despite the level or type of dysfunction is noted, it is important that patients are able to directly express what sexual problems they may encounter so that appropriate referrals can be made.
