Asthma : Allergens
All warm-blooded pets produce dander and saliva that can cause allergic reactions in individuals with allergic rhinitis and asthma. If the animals are not removed from the household, making sure the pet is not allowed in the bedroom and keeping the bedroom door closed are a few of the recommendations of the NAEPP Expert Panel. Washing the pet may also decrease the amount of dander and dried saliva the animal contributes to the home environment.

Behavioral Health: Obsessive-Compulsive Disorders
Uncontrolled obsessions and compulsions are characteristics of OCD. Obsessions are recurring thoughts that are inappropriate and cause the sufferer anxiety i.e. extreme needs and persistent doubts. Compulsions are repetitive behaviors performed by the OCD sufferer that could include cleaning excessively, checking and rechecking something repeatedly, or even repeating a name or phrase over and over. This disorder can interfere with their ability to concentrate and avoid certain situations or places. The onset of OCD is usually gradual and most often begins in adolescence.

CM Walk
Optimism is a courageous state of mind where your desires, efforts, and choices to accept and make the best of difficult situations despite the potholes in the road take shape. Setbacks and unexpected events can and will occur but maintaining your ability to remain optimistic lets you move forward. Pessimism never won any battles. Understanding that people and situations change allows you to see whatever it is and to concentrate on finding something positive and hopeful about the change. In the face of uncertainty, there is nothing wrong with hope.

As we approach the new year and a new Administration, recommendations, solutions, and health care forums will continue to target and attempt to address the inadequacies and urgent needs within the health care industry. “Healthy Holidays”
Our days these past few months have stretched all of us with unexpected events and challenging decisions that will require serious thoughts and actions that work towards benefiting others as well as for ourselves. In working and helping others, we must also take into a full account our own feelings, expectations, and physical care. With the Holidays here, we have some simple activities that work and play into our New Years Resolutions that don’t need to be hard to accomplish. The CDC outlines activities and benefits for all of us to use in our day-to-day lives no matter the time of the year. Water and breakfast are two words that work for me…how about you? Have a health-filled, warm, and Merry Christmas.
