GI Disorders: Inflammation
Ulcerative colitis (UC) is an inflammatory bowel disease. It causes chronic inflammation and ulcers in the lining of the rectum and colon. This inflammation also causes the colon to empty frequently causing diarrhea. Reason: the ulcers form where the inflammation has killed the cells that usually line the colon, then bleed and produce pus.

Women’s Health: HSDD
A possible treatment trend for hypoactive sexual desire disorder is to provide supplemental testosterone. However, the replacement doses given will masculinize women and can irreversibly deepen their voice. The goal of treatment is not necessarily to restore androgens to a youthful level but to provide enough for controlling the disorder. Testosterone levels decline in women as part of the aging process.

Plan and Prepare
Dirty Things in our Homes
Think of the surfaces of things around your house that can hide germs and often are never thought of as a contributor of illnesses. Our telephones, TV remote controls, and other ‘tech’ – type items can pick up ample germs when they fall on the floor, coughed/sneezed on or touched by everyone in the house. Quick Fix: Alcohol wipes or the bleach-based cleanser wipe-over will help to limit the viruses on them. Regular hand washing (20 seconds) is the best way to protect ourselves against these germs.

The nationwide distribution of the H1N1 vaccine has begun. There is ample information available to answer most questions posed by the both the patient as well as the professional health care workers. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s website has the inside track in answering those concerns and inquires on the Influenza A (H1N1) 2009 Monovalent vaccine and community preparedness. The website also has the direct link to http://www.flu.gov/ as well.
