COPD: Peak flow meters
About ten percent of patients with COPD also have asthma. This means that patients with mixed COPD and asthma have a reversible component to their disease and may respond to inhaled steroids. Because asthma has a greater reversibility than COPD, peak flow meters can detect changes. This is not the case with COPD which has minimal reversibility in airway limitations. Peak flow meter is not useful in diagnosing or monitoring this condition.

GI Disorders: Diverticulitis
Most people never have any discomfort or symptoms of diverticulosis, which occurs when small pouches (diverticula) bulge outward through weak spots in the colon. The diverticula form when pressure builds inside the colon wall. Most likely cause: low-fat diet which increases constipation. For most people, eating a high-fiber diet is the only treatment needed. Whole-grain breads/cereals, fruit, and vegetables will add the needed fiber. Diverticulitis happens when these pouches become inflamed causing pain and tenderness (LL side of abdomen). Seeking treatment to prevent complications is the goal.
