CV Risk MI: Review Cardiac Rehab: Rehabilitation after a cardiac event is an important step in assuring a positive outcome overall. While monitored exercise programs along with education on the etiology of the event as it relates to the patients is included in the rehab, other important issues should be included. Family education and discharge planning are done in the hospital followed by the outpatient portion which would focus on psychological topics, smoking cessation, nutrition, weight management and medication management. Rheumatoid Arthritis: Team Lead: Obtaining and achieving goals for managing RA requires full cooperation between the patient as team leader and the other health care team members who assist with structure, decision-making promotion and encouraging appropriate action plans. The first task is to define the goals of therapy for the individual with RA. Goals ultimately will help to achieve and maintain remission. Awareness and Action
Wearing hospital gowns isn’t always something to look forward to when in the hospital or other health care provider sites. While newer versions of the standard gown may be in the works, wearing the old version still makes one a bit uncomfortable . . . especially for men. A special campaign that has been around for a while points to the fact that ‘real men wear gowns.’ That means, real men know the facts, about their own health. Check out the video. Encourage the men in your lives to take care of themselves because Real Men know the Facts. www.ahrq.gov/realmen/

FDA Issues Timeline
Asthma/COPD inhalers that use CFCs (chlorofluorocarbon propellants) have a new timeline when they can no longer be on the market in compliance with the Clean Air Act. Seven inhaler medications have been identified and have their last date to be manufactured, sold and dispensed in the U.S. Patients should be talking with their healthcare professionals about switching to alternative treatments that are available. For more information on this new directive and resources, go to: www.fda.gov/NewsEvents/Newsroom/PressAnnouncements/ucm208302.htm
