Patient Engagement to Achieve HF Management
"We have proven pharmacologic and device therapies for HF treatment, however, these will not be successful unless we concomitantly approach needed behavioral change with our patients and families."

Heart Failure: Telling vs. Engaging
It is vital to keep in mind that each person has an internal set of pros and cons in the choices they make. It is important to determine what those pros and cons are in order to support patients in accomplishing their health related goals.
Simply telling people about what they should do is not particularly effective. Generally, patients need assistance in taking responsibility for their outcomes and in self-managing their conditions.
