Ethics: CMs Protect Public
Due to the fact that case management exists in an environment that may look to solve or resolve various problems in the health care delivery and payer systems, case managers (CMs) may often confront ethical dilemmas.
To resolve these issues, CMs must abide by the Code of Professional Conduct for Case Managers as well as by the professional codes of ethics for their specific profession for guidance and support in the resolution of ethical conflicts.
Today's CMs must protect the public interest in an increasingly patient-centered and cost-conscious environment in which ethical standards have taken on heightened importance.
